About

Hello,
Welcome to my online home, thank you for visiting!

I’m Chevone, a single parent, a sister, an aunt and a daughter of two – one of whom have since exited this earth, quite swiftly due to pancreatic cancer.  I have a wicked sense of humour, even though I don’t understand many jokes so if I give you a blank stare then please do explain.

I live a very basic life, my time is my most precious commodity and I am very selective as to how I spend it and who I spend it with.

Having been retrenched from a full-time job in May 2019, I now spend my days hustling to pay the bills. COVID-19 however added to my worries, yet 2020 has me feeling abundantly blessed, living on the grace and gratitude of friendship!

I am also a part-time student, studying towards my BA – Psychology and Communication Science, initially something I started doing for myself, with my long-term goal being to reach a point where I can register as a Professional with HPCSA as a Counsellor and be of service to others within a professional context.

I also HOMESCHOOL my son!

I have many “ah-ha” moments, parenting for my child and not what others expect parenting to be.  I suppose you could say the decision to homeschool is one of those moments. On my blog you may learn about our Neurodiversity since my son and I both have Asperger’s Syndrome, an Autism Spectrum Disorder.  When we received our diagnoses my son referred to us as the “special editions”, our experience of the world around us, and the way in which we process this, is quite different to the norm

You may read more about roller coaster with hearing loss and understanding Asperger’s

Writing flows through my veins – it is part of my DNA and every once in a while you will come across some of my fictional stories and poetry

My life experience includes poverty, abuse, self-destruction, loss, addiction and the resilience of the human spirit to triumph and source strength from its weakest and most vulnerable moments. I do hope that you will come across at least one post that resonates with you.

Some of my personal quotes that I live by:

  • “Create your own Happiness”
  • “Don’t lose yourself in the behavior of others”
  • “Live your best life even in your weakest moments”
  • “I’d rather be the odd one out than spend a lifetime trying to fit in where I don’t belong”
  • “The art of success can be found in the ability to acknowledge that failure is not the end. Failure is an opportunity to learn, to teach, to grow and also to let go and dream a new dream.”

  1. Brave lass!!

I’m not sure how old your son is, but I’ve been in your shoes.
I think that I read somewhere that your dad has issues also – perhaps you were more prepared than I was.

If I’m not overstepping boundaries, let me know if I can help (sometimes help involves laughing over a cup of coffee with a kindred spirit 😉 )
Kind best wishes for a 2015 better than you could have dreamed of xx

    • Hi!

Your blog seems to be inactive “page not found”? Do you have hearing loss/a child with hearing loss/are you a parent, etc. I’d like to read your blog?

Anything is possible, if you live in the South then a coffee and some laughs may just be a possibility 😉

      Have an awesome 2015!

    • Hi Natashia,
Sorry to hear that you having trouble with your hearing aid, may need to be adjusted.

Contact the Deaf and Hearing Impaired Association, 021 448 2510 or deafclub@mweb.co.za – I forget the audiologist name, but this is where my dad went to a few years ago and it didn’t cost much. They work with adults.

All the best and do let me know if they were able to assist.
